Highlighted Bible Words

Over at the Kansas Bob blog I played with wordle summarizing all of my June posts. I thought it was interesting to see which words from June came to the forefront. So when I saw these wordles at the ESV blog site I just had to post them.

The first wordle is one of the English Standard Version New Testament:

Tag cloud of the ESV New Testament created by Wordle. The most prominent words are “God,” Jesus,” Christ,” and “Lord.”

The second is a wordle of the complete ESV bible:

Tag cloud of the ESV Bible created by Wordle. The most prominent words are “Lord,” “God,” “said,” and “people.”

I thought that it was fascinating to see which words were highlighted in the bible. Of course words like Lord, God and common words like said, land and people were highlighted. Interesting to see how words like Heaven, disciples, Spirit and kingdom come to light in the New Testament.. of course Jesus and Christ are the main words of the NT.

Any word(s) jump out at you? Don't look too hard though.. don't want to give anyone a headache :)

  3. Kansas Bob,
I have read many of your blog items, here and on 'Kansas Bob'. You asked me what I know about your "Brand of Christianity".
Well, I am very concerned for what our country appears to be doing in selecting our next President. I have not heard John McCain place himself as an authority on faith. He has not made claims to what God wants or does not want. He has not pandered to the many faiths by saying, "There are many ways to have a relationship with God". McCain does not say what God would want or does not want concerning issues of abortion and homosexuality. Obama has when he attempts to site the Sermon on the Mount as some sort of evidence that Jesus feels we should give in to the homosexual agenda. Because if we do not it is a violation of our command to love one another. As if we do not love homosexuals with Godly love for not allowing them to have federal protected rights to the shame they want to bring, especially to the curch. If we do give in, it will take our voice in opposition of homosexuality out of our mouths.

Your 'Kansas Bob' page says enough about what you think of Obama. Your 'faith page' does not discuss what you feel we as Christians should be concerned for, as far as the homosexual agenda and abortion go. However, your "About Bob" section on "Kansas Bob" under "political views" covers it.

You have claimed that you are on the fence in your decission making concerning Obama and McCain in one of your blog items. I don't see it by the rest of your blog. However, if you are on the fence; what are you doing there?
Your obligation is first, to the Lord. And so is mine. And so is McCain's. And so is Obama's. However, some of us don't know we have our primary obligations to The Lord.

  4. Hi again jeleasure - thanks for stopping by. Interesting how you equate political voting choices with a "brand of Christianity" and seem to equate being on the fence about the presidential election as being on the fence about Jesus.

I wonder if you have read much of this blog to really understand my heart for the Lord or if you have simply judged my faith based on my political perspectives?

I'd be interested in your response to any of my individual blog posts. It would be more helpful than the sweeping generalizations that you have made.

    Sincerely, Bob

  5. Bob,
    You said,

    My reply,
If you can not decide who to vote for, for office of the Presidency, you are not weighing your decissions on what matters to God.
The single most important thing to God, (evident by His giving of His Son) is people. Your decissions should be based on what you have been given charge of, God's people. Then you would have God's interest in mind.
So, I reason, if you are "on the fence" as to whom is the better candidate for the Human Family as God is concerned, then you truly are on the fence with Jesus.
It does not matter to me what you have written in a demonstration of being compassionate. Atheist are compassionate. However, their goal is to not invest themselves in God's family as far as His interest are concerned.

    My reply:
Because someone says they are a Christian does not make them one.

  8. Thanks for the chuckle jeleasure but you didn't answer my question.. did you not understand what I said? Do you really think that anyone who votes for Obama is not a Christian? On what basis do you make that assertion?

  9. I understood the question perfectly. Apparently you did not understand the answer.

I have not ever said anything pertaining to 'Party' as being Christian you seemed to have felt you read somewhere.

I am simply saying that Christians need to align their reasons for voting with God's will.

If a person calls himself a Christian, it ought to be understood that this person is a Christian as "you will know a tree by its fruit".

  10. Interesting that you often say "you will know a tree by its fruit" jeleasure in defense of your judgment that people who vote for Obama are not Christians.. perhaps you should remove the speck in your own eye before removing the log in mine.. and perhaps you might consider the following fruit of the spirit when you enter into judgment and say that people who vote a certain way are not Christians.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. -Galatians 5:22-23

How can you say that you are a minister when you do not understand the difference between 'Krino' and 'diakrino'?
The judgement Jesus refers to in saying do not judge or you will be judge is 'Krino'. We as Christians are to have a correct, Biblical understanding of what God requires.
You are stating that you believe you perceive the Bible correctly. This is you stating that you would tolerate 'cival unions' and 'pro choice' as part of your candidate of choice's platform. You believe you are correct.
I believe I am correct. So, are we calling a speck in my eye by your understanding of "judging"?

  13. Jim, you said:

No, I am saying that when you pronounce judgment on all people who vote a certain way then you are condemning (krino) them unjustly.

  15. It's interesting that in the complete Bible "said" is almost as big as "God" and bigger than "people". Makes you wonder if we should listen. Also the four biggest words in the New Testament are "God", "Jesus", "Christ" and "Lord". What do you think it's about? Thanks for your time, wisdom and faith.
