I think that prayer is sometimes about experiencing God's presence in our lives. Thinking about this reminds me of this scripture:
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:8)I often experience a sweet closeness with God as I draw near to Him in worship ... it is a cleansing experience ... one that seemingly sets my heart in alignment with His ... helps me see life through His eyes. When Jesus taught on prayer He taught us to begin with worship: "Hallowed be Thy name". He offered us this invitation:
"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)I think that this is a picture of what happens when we come to Him in worship - we find rest for our souls and our burdens are lifted. Take a few minutes today ... watch one of those YouTube worship videos ... sing along ... enter His rest.
Amen to what you've posted here. It works every time. We cannot come into His presense and not be touched, moved and loved by His great love.

Hey, KB, I FINALLY went to a church service! It was casual and small, a group of searchers who sang with passion--and so I know what you mean. A long, cool drink of water for my soul.
ReplyDeleteI know what you maen Bob ,
ReplyDeleteI am always cocerned though , that I am more about the music than actual worship. I spent about 3 years only listening to worship or other christian music And it seems like I can't seperate the two . For me Music always helps with the opening up of the true contents of my heart . Great post.
Praise and worship music will always lift me up when I am down. One of my favorites is "It is Well" written a very long time ago by a man who lost his wife and children while they were sailing on a ship that sank.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoy "Shout to the Lord" and "There is a Stirring"
I should have googled my facts before posting that last comment. Spafford's (the writer of "It is Well)4 daughters perished when the boat they were on collided with another. His wife survived and sent him a telegram saying "saved alone".
ReplyDeleteKB, I can so relate to how you draw near to God through worship with music. When we seek His face, He does draw near to us! :)
