Thankful for Godly Examples
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sometimes it is hard to know how to love others and to treat them in a way that honors God. In times like these we so need people around us who embody the heart of the Lord Jesus. People like these have shown me by their example what it is like to live for God. So I give thanks to God, for people who show us God's love by the ways that they live, on this twenty-third day of November - the month of Thanksgiving!

Her name was Helen Boyd. She was my "Girl's Guild" leader in Junior High in the Church I grew up in. She was such a godly woman and funny, which sometimes doesn't seem to go together. But she probably had more influence in my young life that any person apart from my parents. I've always tried to be a Helen Boyd to someone younger than me. I am thankful for the things she taught me way back then that have stuck, and I still do.
ReplyDeleteI try to do that too Wanda. I have several relationships with younger guys - sometimes I think that they mentor me more than I them.
DeleteOh that has certainly been true in my ministry with young women. I learn so much from them. BTW ~thinking about Helen Boyd, I ended up going into some detail about her on my Thoughts for Sunday.
